Pauline's Picture

A lady from my church called Pauline shares pictures she has received from God every now and again.

We had read John 13 1-5.

1It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love
2The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Today her image was related to the serving nature of God and to the towel Jesus wrapped around himself. She shared that she had an image of walking through a hailstorm. It was so fierce it was painful so she had her hands over her face, no way could she move them to see where she was going it stung far too much. You know that feeling, you can't move to get out of the storm and away from the pain and cold because you can't look where you're going because of it. Not pleasant.

In Pauline's picture, God then came along and covered her with a towel like a huge cloak, sheltering her. She still couldn't see where she was going but he led her to safety.

Sometimes it can be like that in life. In the horrendous storms, such as in 2006 when I lost my friend, or in 2004 when my mother decided not to have anything to do with me, we can't see where we are going. We can't even look up. We have to accept God's protection and his leading, and trust that although we have no idea where he is taking us he will protect us with a towel during the storm, and we will eventually be led into more permanent shelter.

Of course eventually the sun will come out again, in this life just for a while until the next shower. In heaven it will be bright for all eternity.
